Foodland Give Aloha Program.

Domo Arrigato to you all! As an HMS family we did a great job in our annual PTO fundraiser. Dispite tough economic times, you gave generously in support of the programs and initiatives that the PTO puts on and the funds raised will really make a continued difference in making HMS a unique and special place.

Dr. Riley and I attended Foodland’s Give Aloha Program Reception where the announcements were made as to how each non-profit organization did and how much money Foodland and Western Union would be contributing to each organization. The total amount that was collected at Foodland was $1,538,496.56. Western Union donated $50,000 and Foodland donated $250,000 to bring a grand total of $1,838,496.56 going to the community! The HMS family donated a total of $36,065.50 and Foodland made a matching contribution of $6,256.72 and Western Union kicked in $1,218.04 for a grand total of $43,540.26 going to our PTO. Thanks to Foodland and Western Union and of course to our entire HMS family. I would encourage all of you to continue to do your shopping at Foodland as they do truly care about local families.

Our Yama’s kalua pig sale is doing well and we have sold nearly a ton of kalua pig. That’s a lot of pork! Please note that the redemption period ends November 17, 2011 so remember to pick up your kalua pig. The final numbers are not in yet, but with the Give Aloha Program, donations and kalua pig sales, we anticipate bringing in $50,000.

Finally, I would like to thank all of the room parents, as well as Mrs. Yagi, Ms. Cha and Ms. Irene for all their help and assistance in collecting monies, following-up with parents, and encouraging us all!
